Who AM I?
My Path
My name is Lance Johnson and my goal is to help push our understanding of the world forward.
I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics . Prior to graduating I had worked on a research team doing a project on topological data analysis. I served as social media director and then president of the math club. I am now working in data science at technology company.
Below is some more detail on my skills. For inquiries or to request a more detailed resume, please contact me at fearnomath320@gmail.com.

Coursework
My coursework was, unsurprisingly, predominantly in mathematics with an emphasis towards applied math. This included courses on linear programming, numerical methods, and engineering mathematics. You can see my full list of mathematics courses here.
I also took several computer science courses, including Java, C, and data structures and algorithms. These courses taught me the basics of good software design.
My third area of courses involved business and finance. This included several economics courses, financial and managerial accounting, personal finance, and business law.
Skills and Self Study
In addition to the skills gained directly from school, I also have strong technical skills with Excel, Git, Python, Julia, SQL, and R.
I am passionate about learning and continue to improve myself with daily self study. Through careful and prolonged effort I have gained knowledge comparable to an undergraduate course in the following topics:
- Probability
- Statistics
- Introductory Mechanics (post)
- Electrostatics
- Game Theory
This list will continue to grow over time and I will write more posts detailing my experiences with self study.
